Life in Mission Mexico Updates

Posted June 18 PM - Mary Lightbody
Things are going well. The houses are almost done. We hope to finish today. We had two VBS’S yesterday. Both had many kids and moms. We praise God for many sightings of Him working well. We look forward to the dedications tomorrow. Everyone has gotten a lot of sun but we have been drinking a lot of water and using sunscreen.

Things are going well. Everyone got a little sun as we put a full day in on the worksites on Monday. Each house has four walls and the loft rise in. One house has a partial roof. That is a great place to be on Monday. We have also been having a good devotion lead by Dan Zehnder on don't waste your life. We have been encouraged to think of our service in a different way. More tomorrow!

We had a great day at the beach Sunday. We swam in the ocean and ate at a Mexican McDonalds. We have been behind schedule a little bit but we hope to get caught up today. We have seen God work in some incredible ways. We also had a good Fathers Day and Dan's birthday. So today is off to the worksites. The weather is just perfect. We have also had some time to visit past years worksites and see our old friends. Thank you for continued prayers.

Sorry we have not updated sooner.  We have been trying but just recently figured out thing have not been getting through.  Everything and one is fine.  We landed in San Diego and met up with our friends from NE.  We then headed to Lutheran Border Concerns to pick up our boxes of supplies.  Everything arrived well.  We then shopped at Home Depot and the grocery store for supplies.   It was then over the border . . . well kind of.  We ran into our first hurdle when all the people got into Mexico but non of the luggage and supplies.  John Perry, I and a few friends from NE convinced the border guards to let us back in the US where we started over in prayer and moved to plan "B".  A few hours later we were all reunited at the mission.  That is the power of prayer!

Today it was off to work.  We went to see our house sites which are on some really adventurous rodes!   Some chose to walk to the sites.  We are blessed to have experience drivers but please continue to pray for safety in driving.   We also cut our wood as two sites do not have power.  We also prepainted all our walls.  After the hard work we were rewarded with some shopping and soccer with the locals.  We are just about ready to head to devotions and time of praise.

Some of our group will be helping lead worship tomorrow with a vocal quartet, reading scripture and a message from Pastor Adrian.  (He happens to really be from WI so we like him already!)

Thank you for your continued prayers.  Thank you for your patience with communicaiton.

Love to you ALL!
