Groundbreaking Ceremony

On Sunday, September 24, 2006, the day of our groundbreaking ceremony, clouds were cleared from the sky and the sun shone gloriously. God was at work. Led by Pastor Heintz, with the assistance of Rev. John Wille, President of the South Wisconsin District of the Lutheran Church, and council members, the ceremony moved with Christian and friendly dispatch. It appeared that more than 600 people were present.

On Sunday, October 1, 2006, one week later, 587 stakes were still standing in the ground. These stakes represented church family members at work.

The reporter with the assistance of his wife read all the messages. What follows are representative samples:

….In Him the whole building is joined together and rises to become a holy temple in the Lord – Ephesians 2:21
….God bless this holy place
….Every house has a builder but the builder of everything is God.
….I will never leave thee nor forsake thee – Hebrews 13:5
….Ask and it will be given you; seek and you will find; knock and it will be opened to you – Matthew 7:7
….Casting all your cares upon Him
….Praying for all in the military and those who have returned and their families
….Stakes alive! A new church—Yea!
….Do not depend on your own understanding; put your trust in the Lord.
….Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart as working for the Lord.
….Always give yourself fully to the work of the Lord
….Serving the Lord with gladness
….God is love
….Pray for our country and our leaders
….Jesus loves me and thanks be to God
….Bless your house oh Lord we pray
….Praise God from whom all blessings flow
….God at work (this phrase appeared numerous times)

The one who came up with the idea of placing stakes in the ground with individual messages deserves commendation. And all the church families who participated deserve commendation. Brookfield Lutheran Church showed its strength on September 24th with its pastor, its council, its planners, and its more than 587 church family members.
